Walking Plus ...
Walking Plus holidays are for independent walkers with a dash of pioneering spirit who don’t want to bump into other walking parties on route. Many paths are not waymarked, and because our routes are designed to show as much of these wonderfully diverse islands as possible, we direct you along some that are little used – or known. You follow many traditional working paths, which cut through the countryside to the rural hearts of the islands, but you’re unlikely to encounter anyone but a lonely goatherd.
The Cycladic islands are exciting new territory for walkers – and we are the only company offering the independent option.
Each island has its own distinctive character and landscape (see the Destinations).
You can do a week’s walking on Naxos or Tinos, or combine two islands for a satisfying fortnight’s holiday.
The Amorgos programme is 9 or 11 days to allow for extra travelling time and more walking days,
and can usually be combined with one of the other islands.
The written Walking Plus self-guided routes have detailed map and directions, plus observations on the landscape you are walking through, presented with the well-informed enthusiasm that is the company’s hallmark.
They are recce’d and prepared by Robin Cameron Cooper, using expertise gained in the Army,
and researched
and written by author and journalist Gilly Cameron Cooper.
They combine clear, reliable directions with interesting information about what to look out for on the way.
We arrange all accommodation and transport on the islands and transport your baggage from place to place, so all you carry
with you is a day pack. If there are any difficulties, we – or our route manager will be on the island, a phone call
(we provide a local networked mobile phone) away to ask for help.
